Understanding Pods

Pods are small, sealed or semi-sealed cartridges that connect directly to a pod-style vape device. They’re designed to make vaping simple and convenient by combining several components into a single unit. Each pod typically contains:

  • E-liquid (nicotine salt or freebase) (in pre-filled pods)
  • A built-in coil
  • A mouthpiece
  • A small internal tank

Pods remove the need for traditional tank setups and offer a clean, easy-to-use solution for both beginners and experienced vapers.

What is the difference between Refillable and Prefilled Pod ?

A Pre-filled pod comes ready with e-liquid already inside, including a set nicotine strength chosen by the manufacturer. It can be used straight out of the box, and once it’s empty, you simply replace the whole pod with a new one—no refilling or maintenance required.

A refillable pod, on the other hand, is supplied empty and can be filled multiple times with any e-liquid you prefer. These pods typically come with different coil resistances (ohms), allowing you to choose how much vapour, flavour and throat hit you want. This gives you far more flexibility, flavour choice and long-term value compared to pre-filled options.

Understanding a Pod System and & Its Components

A pod system is a compact, easy-to-use vaping device made up of two main parts: The battery (or device body) The pod (cartridge) The pod itself is designed as an all-in-one unit that combines several components to simplify vaping. Here’s a breakdown of every element inside a typical pod:

Mouthpiece:
This is the part of the pod you inhale through. It’s built into the pod and shaped for a smooth, comfortable draw.

E-liquid Chamber:
A small internal tank that holds the vape juice. In pre-filled pods it comes ready with e-liquid, while refillable pods allow you to fill it yourself.

Coil:
The heating element inside the pod that turns the e-liquid into vapour. Different coil resistances affect flavour, vapour output and the style of draw.

Wick:
Usually made from cotton, the wick absorbs the e-liquid from the chamber and feeds it directly to the coil for consistent vapour production.

Connection Pins:
Located at the bottom of the pod, these metal contacts connect to the device and deliver power from the battery to the coil, allowing the pod to function.

Understanding Resistance in Refillable Pods

0.4Ω – 0.6Ω Pods:

This lower-resistance range produces warmer vapour and a stronger hit, with more cloud production. It’s ideal for RDTL (Restricted Direct-to-Lung) vaping and works best with slightly thicker e-liquids. Great for users who prefer a more powerful vape.

0.6Ω – 0.8Ω Pods:

A balanced middle range that offers strong flavour with moderate vapour. Suitable for both tighter RDTL and looser MTL draws. This is a versatile option that works well with nicotine salts and freebase e-liquid.

0.8Ω – 1.0Ω Pods:

These provide a smooth MTL experience with cooler vapour and excellent flavour. Perfect for everyday use with nic salts, offering a comfortable throat hit without using much battery or e-liquid.

1.0Ω – 1.2Ω Pods:

Higher-resistance pods give the tightest, most cigarette-like draw. They produce discreet vapour, use very little power, and deliver the most efficient nicotine satisfaction — ideal for new switchers and light vapers.
